Baby's Gang has a song called 'Happy Song' and its one of those tracks that puts a smile on my face every time. So I decided to try to find out some more information about them and this song. Well so far I have been having a hard time finding info on them. But I did find a near replica version with Boney M. The Brainchild of producer Frank Farian, Boney M was a German pop group with a lip-synching front band headed by former exotic dancer Bobby Farrell.
Funny thing is I bought a Boney M album years ago, and always run across it in the budget bins. Boney M had been around for years before they recorded 'Happy Song,' and in some ways it marked a short comeback streak for the group. I am not going to try to go into the story of Boney M but apparently this song was released in 1984 around the same time as another cover of 'Kalimba de Luna' by Tony Esposito.
'Kalimba de Luna' is another piece of Italo Disco genius!!! And though Boney M does it right they basically covered it piece by piece. Oh yeah, and you might be interested in knowing that Boney M's mastermind Frank Farien is also responsible for Milli Vanilli.
